6 ways to actually earn more from your exports

Picking the right plan is only half of it. These are the same tactics our highest-earning Brisbane customers use to push payback under 4 years.

Self-consume first

Every kWh you use is worth ~33¢ vs ~10¢ exported. Shift dishwasher, pool pump and aircon to daytime.

Add a battery

Store midday surplus and export at 4–9pm peak. A 10kWh battery in a VPP earns $700+/yr more than no battery.

Pick the right tariff

Time-varying tariffs reward 4–9pm export. Flat-rate tariffs suit homes without a battery or smart hot water.

Watch the daily supply

A 14¢ FiT with a $1.80 daily supply often loses to a 10¢ FiT at $1.20. Compare total bill, not headline rate.

Avoid export caps

Some retailers cap FiT at 10kWh/day. If you have a 10kW+ system, check the fine print.

Read 12-month terms

Many bonus rates drop after year one. Set a calendar reminder to re-compare every July.
