What goes into a serious off-grid system

Off-grid is not 'solar + a battery'. It's a complete engineered power station with redundancy at every layer. Here's the kit list.

Tier-1 panels

Longi or Trina N-type bifacial, 25-year output warranty. Ground-mount or rooftop.

Hybrid inverters

Selectronic SP PRO (AU-made, 10yr), Victron MultiPlus-II, or Sol-Ark for three-phase loads.

Lithium battery bank

Pylontech, BYD HV, or PowerPlus Eco — scalable from 15kWh to 80kWh+, 6,000+ cycles.

Backup genset

Auto-start diesel (Kubota / Pramac) or LPG generator wired into the inverter for 5–7 cloudy days.

Remote monitoring

VRM portal or Selectronic Select.live — we watch your system 24/7 from Brisbane.

Switchboard & wiring

AS/NZS 5139 compliant DC + AC switchboards, surge protection, lightning earthing.

When off-grid makes financial sense

Grid quote shock

Ergon will quote $80k–$300k+ to extend power lines >1km. An off-grid system is almost always cheaper.

Outage-prone areas

Cyclones, storms and bushfires take rural feeders down for days. Off-grid means you never lose power.

Done with generators

Diesel costs $4,000–$10,000/yr to run a remote home. Solar + battery pays back in 3–5 years.

Single-line diagram, component spec sheets, civil works, gen-set integration, monitoring — all itemised.

Our crew travels statewide. 3–7 days on-site depending on civil works. Full handover walkthrough.
